The genus Buddleja is now included again in the Buddlejaceae family , synonym : Oftiaceae , having earlier been classified under Scrophulariaceae , Loganiaceae and, originally, Buddlejaceae. [9]

Gardeners who want to attract butterflies to their gardens often plant butterfly bush (genus Buddleia ), a fast growing shrub that blooms prolifically. While butterfly bush is easy to grow, inexpensive to buy, and a good attractant for butterflies,  some argue it's one of the worst choices for a butterfly garden.

The Butterfly Bush ( Buddleja davidii ) is a beautiful, fast-growing deciduous shrub with masses of blossoms—long, seductively spiked trusses—that bloom from summer to autumn. The flowers come in many colors, though butterflies prefer the lavenderpink (mauve) of the species to the white and dark purple cultivars.
